A new piece of DC fan fine art gives Tim Drake, the third Robin, the identity and team he deserves. While Drake has had something of an identity crisis over the past decade, fan @kalhuset has provided Tim Drake with not but the perfect new identity, just a brand-new team called the Outsiders, made up of quondam teen sidekicks such as himself and Connor Kent.

Tim Drake is best known to fans equally the third person to take the mantle of Robin. Unlike previous Robins, Tim Drake was non initially an orphan but instead deduced that Bruce Wayne was Batman and that Dick Grayson was in one case Robin. Batman, however reeling from the loss of Jason Todd a yr earlier, was reluctant to take Tim Drake under his wing, but he relented, giving Drake a brand new, updated Robin outfit—bringing the character into the modern era. All the same, since DC's line-wide New 52 reboot in 2011, the graphic symbol has struggled to find his footing and only recently returned to the Bat-Family last year. Since his return, Tim Drake has won fans dorsum over, reminding them of why he was one of the best to ever be Robin. And while Tim Drake's comic book comeback continues, artist @kalhuset has provided a cool new take on the character—complete with a new proper name and team.

Artist @kalhuset shared the image on Twitter. Tim Drake is leading a team consisting of Bart Allen (the former Impulse), Connor Kent (Superboy), Cassie Sandsmark (onetime Wonder Girl), Empress, Artemis and Blue Beetle. Huset calls the team "the New Outsiders." He goes on to reveal that this new version of Tim Drake has taken the name "Cardinal," consummate with a new carmine and black outfit. Huset also reveals that Connor Kent has taken the name "Valor" and Bart Allen is "Mercury," a sly shout out to his former mentor Max Mercury. Fans have responded well to the image, giving it over 1,000 likes and nearly 300 retweets.

Since the New 52, Tim Drake has been largely relegated to the sidelines, while Dick Grayson and Jason Todd have continued their crime-fighting careers. Infinite Frontier brought Tim Drake back to the Bat-Family in a big way and @kalhuset's art feels like the adjacent logical step for Tim Drake. The name "Cardinal" keeps the bird motif going; information technology is also fitting that Tim Drake gets his own team at last, and this squad shares a connection to his former mentor. The team itself, made up of old Young Justice members, is too a major step forward for both Connor Kent and Bart Allen, who have grown into heroes of their own, with names that honor those who came before them.

After nearly a decade of floundering, Tim Drake, the third Robin, has made his grand return to the Bat-Family, and a new piece of fan fine art imagines Drake as a leader, with an awesome squad at his disposal.
